EMAP Online Assessment Tool

The EMAP Online Assessment Tool is the web-based self-assessment and documentation tool used by programs to prepare for on-site assessment as part of the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) process. The tool is accessible only to registered programs or individuals.

The tool provides a mechanism to walk through the EMAP standards to determine if your emergency management/preparedness program is compliant with each EMAP standard and to list the documentation -- or "proofs of compliance" -- you have to demonstrate or document the program's compliance. You should also include a rationale of how each document or proof listed is related to compliance (your explanation of how it supports compliance). All personnel in one program working on that program's assessment must use the same username and password to use the Online Assessment Tool.

As an improvement planning tool, the tool also offers a means of tracking steps your program may need to take to reach compliance. As an option, as you move through the standards, for any standards for which the program is not in compliance, you can enter reasons why it is not compliant and steps, with supporting detail, that need to be taken to reach compliance (e.g., time, personnel, resources).

The assessment tool includes the text of the EMAP Standard, which is copyrighted, so it may not be reproduced or printed and copied or distributed. During an on-site assessment, EMAP assessors also use the Online Assessment Tool to record their findings as to the program's compliance with the standards.
